ICING Privacy Policy

Certain areas within www.icing.com may ask you to supply information. For example, if you want to send an e-card or mail your wish list, you will be asked to give your first name, the recipient's first name, and the recipient's e-mail address. That information is used only in order to send the e-card or wish list, and is then deleted by Claire's. We may also allow our users to save their wish lists for access at a later time. To save your wish list, you will be prompted to supply an anonymous username and password. We may allow users with valid credit cards to purchase gift cards for their friends and family. We assume that because this transaction requires a valid credit card, only persons over 12 are placing orders for gift cards, and providing us with the information requested during the gift card order process. During that process, we ask for name, mailing address, telephone number, and billing information from the party who is placing the order. We capture the name, mailing address, and phone number for each gift card recipient. We may ask you to register and agree to receive communications from us, or if you want to participate in a loyalty or club membership program that we may develop in the future, you will be prompted to provide your first and last name, birth date, a postal address, an e-mail address, and a mobile telephone number. Under the Federal Trade Commission's Rule implementing the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Claire's may not collect this information from children under 13 without first obtaining prior parental consent. Claire's is committed to complying with this requirement, and other pertinent terms of the COPPA Rule. In addition to information we may ask from you specifically, our web site tracks some information passively. This information is collected in order to assure that our site runs smoothly, and that you have a good experience at www.icing.com. When you visit our web site, our web server automatically recognizes the browser you are using, your IP address, the URL that referred you to our site, and all of the areas within our site that you visit. We use this information only in a general context that does not personally identify individual users but still allows us to analyze trends concerning our site and thus improve it accordingly.

We use “cookies” on our site so that the information you type is retained when you are ordering gift cards and/or creating wish lists. “Cookies” contain information that is stored by your web browser on your hard drive, and so this information is not stored at www.icing.com. Most web browsers allow you to control the use of cookies on your computer, and so Claire’s recommends that you consult the help function of your web browser to learn more about its use of cookies. If you decide to disable cookies, please note that if you visit other pages on the site while placing a gift card order and/or creating a wish list, you will need to retype any data previously entered. Further, other information on the site may not display consistently once you have disabled cookies.

We at Claire's have worked hard to create a safe online environment for both children and adults. We only collect and save personally identifiable information about individuals who volunteer such information or who purchase Claire's gift cards, and, with respect to children under 13, only after verifiable parental or guardian consent is obtained. Claire's will use the information you provide when purchasing a gift card to fulfill your request. We may also use your information to send you additional information about our company or products in which we believe you may be interested, or for other purposes described in this section, below. The information you provide to us to send an e-card or your wish list is used only to respond to that request. After the e-mail is sent, the information you provided is deleted. Because usernames and passwords are anonymous, children may be permitted to create wish lists without providing us with any personally identifiable information. We may use the non-identifiable information users record in their wish lists to learn more about the products our customers prefer, and about trends in the marketplace.

Claire’s uses your information to notify you about new features, products or services we may make available from time to time; to customize your experience on our site; and to improve our features, products and services. We may notify you about contests and promotions, we may ask that you complete customer surveys, we may send you newsletters or other of our promotional pieces, or we may notify you about third party products or services in which we believe you may be interested. Promotional materials may be sent to you by postal mail, email, text message or other means. You may opt-out of receiving these communications as provided below in the section entitled, “Access and Opting Out”. Claire’s is not in the business of selling your personally identifiable information, and does not make a practice of releasing your information to third parties. However, we may need to disclose your information to our business partners or affiliates in order to run this web site, or fulfill your order requests. Claire’s may also share the information you provide with other limited and carefully screened third parties. We may also provide aggregate (anonymous) statistics about our customers, sales, online traffic patterns and related information to reputable third parties, but these statistics will not include any personally identifying information. In the unlikely event that we sell all or part of our business, we will transfer to the new owner the related business assets, which may include our customer information.

So that we can process your requests, include both a detailed explanation and, in the subject line of your message, either indicate "Delete Information," "General Privacy Question," "Access to Personal Information," or "Opt Out of Sharing." We will respond to all reasonable requests as soon as feasible. In addition, all communications from us will include details on how to unsubscribe from receiving future communications from us and will be clearly identified as having come from us.

Parents, we store information about children under 13 only after we first obtain your verifiable consent, and we will also make sure to provide you with the ability to review the information your child provides, and have it deleted if you so wish (as is required by the COPPA Rule).

The importance of security for all personally identifiable information associated with our users is of utmost importance to us. We exercise great care in providing secure transmission of our users’ financial information from their computers to our servers, and use encryption software to process your purchases. Only those employees who need access to our users’ information in order to do their jobs are allowed access. Employees who violate our privacy policy are subject to disciplinary action.
